No hassle convenient tool for the kitchen. – Heats up fast. Non stick. Super easy to clean. Can also be used for other things like low fat munchkins. However some of the areas get very hot – a few cells in the middle and others take longer than others – around the perimeter. Once you know what they are this can be managed. Looks like a minor design flaw.

Uneven heating element – The build quality on this unit is poor at best. This is the 2nd one I received as the first arrived defective. The assembly of this unit is better than the one it replaced but there i still an uneven gap between the top and bottom piece. The side with the power button is higher than the other side. This one is less noticable than the previous unit (pic3). Heating is the problem with this unit though. The two where my fingers are placed (pic1) doesnt get hot until the other holes are scorching hot. They appear to be located right above the ends of the heating element which doesnt get hot. It’s a circular heating element without something in betweem it and the plate to help spread the heat evenly. You can feel the circle of heat …. well up to the edge of the bottom two. If I had a stove here, I would get a Takoyaki plate, but this will have to do until I’m back home. I’m debating if the sticks are even worth trying out. The first set came broken so I was able to see the junky plastic inside. I have shaven a pair of wooden chop sticks to roll the Takoyaki around. I’ll update the review after a few batches, but I dont have very high hopes for this thing.

Great for learning how to make takoyaki – This was easy to use and really fun to watch other’s make the food with. It’s almost like watching people try and flip pancakes, some times it’s really impressive and some times they come out deformed. That is not the fault of the maker but fun to use as a novelty party item.

Missing takoyaki pick – The takoyaki maker itself is great but I am missing the takoyaki pick. It was not on the box. Can the seller send me one since it’s on the description that it should be included when I bought it. Thanks

Pretty good – I’ve made a lot of takoyaki with this. Only problem I have with this thing is that it heats pretty unevenly with no discernable pattern. Meaning some slots will start burning the batter in just a few minutes while other slots need at least twice as long to get to the same point. Annoying as hell, but not a deal breaker.

Works Fine but Molds are Small for Takoyaki – The molds are on the small side. Produces spheres about 1.25 inches in diameter. Would have preferred if they were closer to 2 inches. No temperature control just on/off switch but it heats uniformly and seems to keep it at the right temperature so not an issue. The cooking surface is not removable so to clean you can only wipe it down cannot put it under running water. Also tried to make ebiskivers and works fine.

Rather nice pan for the price – The pan is good for trying out takoyaki. Just a few times a year use at the most. It heats up pretty quickly and evenly. The sticks for turning the takoyaki are kind of flimsy but they get the job done. It’s a good buy overall.
