      – After trashing my old and very cheap rice cooker I decided I wanted a better one. This Zojirushi model had such glowing reviews everywhere I checked, I wasn’t sure it could be THAT good.

    2. I. E (verified owner)

      – My whole family loves the rice we make, especially the Jasmine rice. This rice cooker has settings for different kinds of rice. Make sure you watch the Zojirushi video on Youtube on how to wash the rice. It is a six step procedure that really helps the rice turn out better.

Best Rice Cooker Ever Thus Far! – Top 3 Likes: 1. Cooks the perfect rice 2. Easy to clean with removable lid components and 3. It sings to you when your rice is done! You almost always cannot go wrong with a Japan-made product. I’ve had several rice cookers through the years, all of them either Tiger or Zojurushi. What I’ve learned is that products with these brands have poor quality if they were made outside Japan. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars finding the right rice cooker that can cook mixed rice (white and brown jasmine) without having the water spill out from the steam vent. This is the first product where there was no spillage nor did the rice cooker have the cruddy brown residue from the starch of the rice. I love how the lid has components that do come out which helps with cleaning and maintenance; some other companies with similar features don’t make their lids easy to clean…and what happens? You end up with a dirty rice cooker…who wants to see that in your kitchen? Someone who reviewed this product mentioned that it is loud. I have no idea what that person was doing but the sound of the induction while cooking is not even a major issue, it’s still pretty quiet and who cares about the low humming sound, you’re cooking rice while doing other loud things in the kitchen. Even if the rice cooker is on and you’re not in the kitchen, it’s not like you can hear it from even 10 feet away. I love the design of the rice cooker with the stainless steel look. I’m also glad that Zojurushi still includes a rice spatula handle whereas other companies provide free standing holders that can easily be lost or left unused. Anyhow, my one and only gripe about this rice cooker: why did Zojurushi and even Tiger, do away with their retractable electric cords?!?! It seems like these manufacturers took a great leap forward in technology in cooking the perfect rice, but yet…they took a huge step back in making the product easy to store and convenient for the consumer. To Zojurishi and Tiger: if you want your consumer to invest in this type of rice cooker because it isn’t a cheap product, bring back your retractable electric cord…I guarantee that your customers will give you 5 stars…there’s so many areas of wasted space within the housing of the rice cooker that can be redesigned to incorporate a retractable electric cord housing.

Another great machine from Zojirushi! (read my note about the appropriate size) – I have had the 3 cup Zojirushi machine for a couple years and I love it. I decided that I needed a bigger one and I decided to splurge a little bit to get the induction heating. The reason I originally bought the 3 cup machine is because it had heaters on the bottom/sides/top… Not all Zojirushi machines have that… this one does. I decide to go for the 1.8L rather than the 1L because it also has the bottom/sides/top heating along with the induction heating of course, so the rice turns out perfectly.

Top-of-the-line rice cooker – Frankly I still don’t understand why my wife needs to spend more than $250 for a rice cooker (or even to spend over $150), but knowing her, I bought this to replace our old rice cooker, which if I remember correctly was over $1000 (and frankly, did not age well for a $1000 rice cooker). That said, this is a very fine rice cooker, and I did not spend the absurd coin my wife did on our last one. You can tell from the moment you see out of it’s box it it is a top-of-the-line item. We’ve been using it for months now, and, yes, the rice is perfect. If you want a Mercedes Benz rice cooker, this one is a good choice.
