      OXO 8710300 Cordless Glass Electric Kettle, 1.75 L, Clear – Love it heats fast

      Small Hands – If you want to really clean the inside of this kettle. You better have really small hands. A man that wears large gloves cannot get their hands into it. It does boil water in a reasonable amount of time. It does not give you steam burns as you pour the water. Overall, I like it!

      Delightful electric kettle – I’ve never owned an electric kettle before. Since I’m a tea drinker, I decided to buy something good. Oxo has amazing products that always delight me. This is a beautiful kettle. Two issues with it. First is safety. The switch for turning on the kettle has to be pressed down. This means that you can accidently turn on the kettle when you hit the switch. (I did that years ago on an old toaster oven and started a first when I put groceries on the counter….and accidently pressed the switch.) The second thing (also a safety issue). The kettle doesn’t turn off when water boils. I think it should shut down on its own.

      Not recommended – This kettle heats water fine, but it is poorly designed, and this causes some issues. The flip-top can’t be removed, and there are a lot of nooks and crannies where water can collect, and you can’t wash or dry those areas. The kettle vibrates and shakes significantly when the water boils in it, because it’s not really stable-ly connected to the base. It just sits on top of it. I never worried that it was going to tip over, the shaking just makes it seem cheap, and could be reduced or eliminated with better design. Oxo is such a design ace, but this one needs a re-do. We had to replace this kettle recently (not for performance reasons), and I’m looking at other brands/models because of my expert owning this one.

      Great quality product! – Been using this product heavily since September 2019, and it just keeps working and working! Water is quickly (and beautifully) heated. It is fairly low maintenance as well. The most involved cleaning I had to do for it was when I had to remove mineral buildup at the bottom at the kettle (it is often confused with rust). All I had to do was boil a solution of 1/4 cup vinegar and 3/4 cup of water in it and POOF! The mineral buildup was gone.
