This does work, but the design could be even better – I purchased this as a gift for my partner who often mixes dough for homemade bread in our hand-me-down Kitchenaid stand mixer. First things first, this part fits perfectly and is easy to snap in place! It is also super easy to clean in the washing machine. Secondly, it DOES work. Rather than having to scrape climbing tendrils of dough off the mixer blade attachment every few seconds, it’s much easier to simply poke down the larger globs of dough as they crest this shield. It keeps unsightlty (if edible) mixer grease out of our dough and makes the kneading process a little more hands-off. However, this would absolutely benefit from being a little wider. It’s like the designers stopped just short of a REALLY useful product! For the price, this is still a great stocking-stuffer gift for bakers in your life, but I would be eager to invest in a version 2.0 with a wider shield to make this even more helpful.

Wow! – Wow! What a huge difference this dough hook shield makes. My first time making dinner roll dough in my Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer it broke due to the dough rose up the shaft . I turned for about 5 seconds, maybe less. I heard a much different sound and my stand mixer broke. It stopped turning. Thank god for warranties. I bought my stand mixer back in March of 2022. Whirlpool replaced it. I had happened to run across this dough hook shield just in time .I made another batch of dinner roll dough and I had absolutely no problems. It is very easy to clean as well.. Thank you Whirlpool for making such a good product for making bread doughs . I highly recommend this .

Easy to use – I just got this little gadget a couple of days ago and was excited to use it right away. I’ve been baking bread consistently in the past few years and I’m always annoyed by the dough climbing up the hook while kneading and having to work hard to clean the mixer. I saw an ad for this product and decided to try it out. Works like a charm! So easy to use and the additional benefit is that it significantly improves the gluten development because I don’t need to take it out of the bowl and continue kneading by hand anymore. I never had such gluten structure before. Get it!
