“This is AMAZING Popcorn!” – I hear it every time I make popcorn with this StirCrazy machine. The only thing I don’t like, is that it’s smaller than the older ones, so I have to make two batches. But, I like the way this one doesn’t allow the steam to escape out the handles (I was constantly burning my fingers with the old style). Olive oil or Coconut oil give the best flavored popped corn. I do not suggest putting the butter in the top of it to drip down onto the corn. Melt your butter in a small pot on low on the stove top, and pour over the popped corn, and salt to taste, then stir it well.

Easy to store – Although I think the best West Bend model was the first, this one has some advantages, like a plug that is attached and a bigger bowl. It’s important to use the right amount of oil. Storage is great within the lid.

Still a great popper – My family, while growing up and now parents and siblings all have one so currently 4 households, has used a West Bend Stir Crazy for years (like since the 1980s), and we all think this is the best. I think the new to me storing method with the bottom inside the lid is a wonderful improvement. I cracked the lid of my old one as I dropped it while getting it down from the shelf (totally my fault). We’ve always popped with the (now red) lid off and do not use the butter melting feature; we are also the type of family that will make several batches, put into bowls with our own added butter product. The former popper used 2T oil and 3/4 cup kernels, but this one says 3T oil (which I did for the first batch). I used canola oil and store brand popcorn. There was no plastic smell or whatever others noted in their reviews. I gave 4/5 for cleanup because I agree that sometimes it can get “gunky” in the ridges (well, the old one did), so the jury is still out on that. I do like the taste of popcorn made with coconut oil as someone said, but I do recall that it is a messier cleanup for the lid…but solved with soap and water. Mom puts her lid in the dishwasher, but I clean it in the sink.

Great popcorn maker – I have had several of these popcorn makers, we eat popcorn every Sunday in our house. It is easy to clean. Only issue is it pops pretty slow.

Wow! – We had a west bend popper as kids. The Whirley pop scraped my cooktop so no more popcorn on the stove which we all know tastes the best. So i found this and along with cutter flavored coconut oil, it tastes just like the theater!

Minor Changes Since My Previous Stir Crazy Corn Popper – When I sold my previous house and moved into my RV for awhile, I had to sell most of my appliances including my Stir Crazy Corn Popper. After missing my popper for years, I was delighted to purchase a replacement.
