Quick cooking – Purchased this hot plate stove for a weekend home. It works good enough. I use a thin pans since the surface area is not large. Takes a little bit of time to heat up but once it does it stays hot. I’ve cooked sausages, eggs, pancakes, coffee, etc…Little bit of rust formed on the surface plates but it does not affect the heat.

Replaced a Deep Fryer – So though I love occasional fried food, I do not love the kitchen smelling of grease for 2 or 3 days. So I fry things on my patio. I had a small deep fryer that worked well, BUT it was impossible to keep clean, difficult to change the oil (REALLY difficult), and just became caked with grease all over. I decided to try something and am SO glad I did. I got this hotplate and use a regular pot of oil. It makes so much more sense. And all those problems are gone. (I threw the deep fryer away.) The temperature control is great, the metal housing (not plastic) around the hotplate makes it easy to clean. Could not be happier.

Takes a long time to heat – I have a love-hate relationship with this product. My stove is out, so I had to buy it out of necessity. The main issue is that it takes a long time to heat up. That means it takes a very long time to get some thing to boil. It is difficult and frustrating to cook roux, stew, or gravy, because of the time to get something up to a boil or sauté temperate and then turn it down it takes a long time to cool to a simmer temperature. Having said all that, I use it every day so it seems durable and it was an expensive. Therefore, I would recommend it.

Replaced a Deep Fryer – So though I love occasional fried food, I do not love the kitchen smelling of grease for 2 or 3 days. So I fry things on my patio. I had a small deep fryer that worked well, BUT it was impossible to keep clean, difficult to change the oil (REALLY difficult), and just became caked with grease all over. I decided to try something and am SO glad I did. I got this hotplate and use a regular pot of oil. It makes so much more sense. And all those problems are gone. (I threw the deep fryer away.) The temperature control is great, the metal housing (not plastic) around the hotplate makes it easy to clean. Could not be happier.

That means it takes a very long time to get some thing to boil. It is difficult and frustrating to cook roux, stew, or gravy, because of the time to get something up to a boil or sauté temperate and then turn it down it takes a long time to cool to a simmer temperature.
