Bulletproof and foolproof operation, but expensive (see details). Conditionally Recommended – I know that you can get a K-cup coffee maker from about anyone now. I also know that combo K-cup/drip coffee makers are “in” right now. Despite all of that, when my family’s old Keurig coffee maker (a mid-line model from 5+ years ago) died, I decided to get the Keurig K-Elite Coffee Maker (Brushed Silver).

as described – seems Keurig went back to the simple basic models. Could not find the brewer I had with a larger water container. But, the plastic on that model was bad and broke TWICE. Hoping this simple machine is more sturdy. ONE thing I am not a fan of, is the water container is hidden by the color of the machine, so you have to look on the side of the machine to see if you need to add water, and how much.

Quiet and quick, makes excellent coffee. – The Keurig Elite has a 54oz reservoir that’s located on the side of the unit. It’s removable and easy to fill. I used bottled water, so I only remove it once a week to clean. Cleaning it is a breeze. Looks beautiful on the countertop. It makes a smooth cup coffee everytime. No problems at all. In my Keurig 2000 the needles got clogged and I cleaned them a couple of times and it would make one good cup and on the next cup, the needles would clog again and it spits the coffee straight out. I did that a few times but it was a pain and not worth it. So I came across a Kuerig Compact, a cheaper model but it made good coffee. Yet you could see, hear and feel the difference. It was made very cheap. The reservior was in the back, so inconvenient. It was loud and didn’t move smoothly. Well I’m finally happy at last because this works like a dream. Also, with this one, I am vigilant about taking the pods out as soon as it finishes brewing. I think maybe the times I forgot to remove them after brewing had something to do with the needles getting clogged. Just my thought.

Morning Routine – This Keurig is an upgrade from my sometime around 2013 Keurig and WOW are they two different technologies! I love how I can set this on a timer to warm up in the morning, and the biggest surprise to this unit is the high-altitude setting. This is what that setting is used for, “The high altitude setting in Keurig lowers the brewing temperature of a Keurig coffee maker to about 187°F by taking into account the high altitude effect on water’s boiling point. This enables your brewer to function optimally even at high altitudes.”

A good, basic Keurig maker – Bought this model after our 2 year old K150 machine died. It has been a couple of months, so no indication of longevity, but I am impressed so far. I like the strong brew button. Also, after turning it on, I can press buttons for the brew or hot water and it handles the task after heating the water. No waiting for the boiler to get things hot before making your selection. Missed the K150 screen for a minute, and then realized that the buttons and indicator lights mad things easier and faster. Still has the height limit under the discharge so that some travel mugs don’t fit, but otherwise things are OK. I would prefer that the water tank have a clear panel on the front of the machine. They made it a solid color so I have to look around the side of the reservoir to check on the water level. Yes, the low water light tells when it is time to refill, but I like being able to see the tank level from the front. Even though this is a “lower level” unti when compared to the K150, I am quite happy with it.

Nice brewer – This is a nice brewer with all of the bells and whistles you could want. Very happy with it. The only negative that I found is that you have to wait for it to heat the water; my last brewer was a Cuisinart which made the water hot on demand, no waiting. To this brewer’s credit, you can press the appropriate button for the size cup that you are brewing and walk away; when the water is hot, it will start to brew automatically
