Easy Breezy–fast, efficient, 2 hour temp keeper – Nice sleek look for a 1.7 litre electric kettle. This Brightown kettle offers temperature choices in 5 degree increments. Easy to set. Extremely fast to heat water. With a timely press of a button, It will hold perfect temperature for 2 hours — great in the morning making multiple cups of tea for me then coffee for mom when she wakes a bit later. The “keep warm’ mode does not have to be reset after lifting kettle off then returning kettle to its base. I boil water for use in cooking which cuts down on time along with gas stove usage (keeps the kitchen cooler in summer). The kettle swivels on its base. Replacing the kettle on the base is no problem. The pour spout does not sputter. Only stainless steel touches the water. When water is filled to the ‘max full line’, the kettle is just a tad heavy to pour one-handed. Not hot to touch. ~ I really like it. Easy Breezy ~

The negatives are the lid opens at an angle the makes it cumbersome to fill the kettle from a water filtering device such as a Britta. The angle of the lid also precludes fitting your hand into the kettle for a good cleaning. The manufacturer also inexplicably added a metal filter screen under the lid which further complicates filling and cleaning.

Good buy – This electric kettle is really convenient. I use it to boil water for my french press coffee pot instead of boiling water in a pot and using a thermometer to check the temperature. It’s pretty fast and I don’t have to pay attention to it. The reason for only 4 stars is that the temperature doesn’t really get up to 195. I measure it several times when I first got it and only saw it reach 192. It’s not a deal breaker, but I wish it got up to 195. It also doesn’t hold the temperature very well. You can set it to maintain a temperature, but it allows the water to cool all the way down to 177 before heating it back up to 195 (192). That being said, I’d still recommend it for the price.
