Hard to crank – It’s TINY with a lot of pieces. You have to use the ice molds that come with it, and it’s super hard to crank the shaver. I had pictured this as my kids making slushees while I watch, but it’s really me doing it while they watch.

Cute and fun for little kids! – My granddaughter is a big Frozen fan and loved having a family snowcone party! Be sure to have juice or flavoring on hand, and also leave plenty of time beforehand for the water to freeze in the provided “ice cup.” Also, being only 3, she was not really able to turn the crank to crush the ice, so her mom and dad stepped in for that. She really, truly enjoyed the fun family experience of making our own snowcones….her beaming face was definitely worth it!

My 5 year old daughter is in love with this little machine! She can work it herself. There is one thing you need to know in order to make this work: put cubed or crushed ice (like from a fridge door) instead of the frozen ice pucks they tell you to make with the included cups. Those do NOT grind up. At all. With smaller cubes or crushed ice it works perfectly and is easy for kids to do themselves.
