Wish I Found This Year’s Ago – For years I’ve used a cheap rice maker without even thinking twice about it. I stumbled upon this one in an article reviewing the best rice makers. This one ranked 2nd overall. It is considerably cheaper than the number one ranked rice maker. I almost always make brown rice which can be a challenge as opposed to white rice. Today I made brown rice in the new rice maker for the first time. I HAD NO IDEA HOW TERRIBLE MY RICE HAS BEEN!!! LOL My first attempt out of the gate the rice was amazing! Thousand times better than my “now old” rice maker. The rice to water ratio lines concept is similar to my old one so it was easy to adapt. Only difference is the old one was smaller and had a line for 1 cup which this new one starts at 2 cups. To me it appears there is more water to rice with this one but it is bigger. I made 2 cups paying careful attention to keeping with the water line for 2 cups of brown rice. The rice was perfect consistency and tasted amazing. The flavor was notably better than rice made in my old cooker. It actually made my over-all chicken and vegetable dish far superior. I’m pretty sure I could nail a 1 cup portion with some experimentation, but with the reheat feature the larger portion is a non-issue. I can’t wait to use the reheat feature and the delayed cook feature. It will be awesome to come home from work to perfectly cooked rice done, warming and ready for whatever I cook to serve with it. I echo what other reviewers have said about the importance of reading the instructions. They’re a bit funky mind you, but after becoming familiar with the cooker it’s pretty simple to figure out how to operate it. Oh, and the only difference in the review from the # 1 cooker was with that one it didn’t matter getting the water to rice ratio right because the cooker adjusts accordingly making it virtually impossible to jack it up. Other than that, the review said this one cooked equally great rice at a much lower price. If you can read the water line on the side of the pot in conjuction with the amount and type of rice you’re cooking, you too can cook great rice and shall I say, “To keep cooked rice warm and tasty”. 🙂

Very nice nice entry-level Micon rice cooker, but … – I eat a lot of rice, steel-cut oatmeal, and grits (a.k.a. polenta). I had cooked these successfully up until now in my beloved 8-quart Zavor multi-cooker, but using such a big appliance is overkill to cook just a cup of dry rice or grains for a few servings in a single household. I chose this Cuckoo Micom (micro-computerized) rice cooker for its reputation and brand loyalty, great reviews (on CNN), size and multiple cooking functions. Plus it really looks cute on my counter!

You can get as specific as you want to. The timer is wonderful, and the cooker remembers my favorite settings so it’s easy to use. You can simply push the selection button and start, or you can choose from its many settings. And, the rice came out perfectly the first time! It also automatically keeps the rice warm when it’s done. On top of all this the non-stick bowl just lifts out so it’s easy to clean. Love, love, love this rice cooker! I was still skeptical cause it’s just rice and water, what could possibly be done differently!?!? The first batch of rice I made was some brown rice for my dog…. My entire family (and me) hate the taste of brown rice buuuut after the rice was cooked, we all tried it and ended up having to make a second batch for the dog! It was that good! We are now a brown rice family. Definitely worth every penny and yes there is a HUGE deference in rice cookers!

Easy to use with no extreme steam coming out – I had my $34.99 Cuckoo rice cooker for ages. It made great rice but the steam coming out of that was horrendous. This rice cooker is really easy to use and no massive steam. When I took out of the box, it already had the correct clock on the monitor. And i didn’t even plug in. How strange is that. It looks great and the rice came out perfect. So easy to use. Each cup is 1 serving. For 2 servings, 2 cups of rice and pour the water to where it is marked “2”. That’s it.
