The KitchenAid Mixer of Milk Frothers – I bought this to replace my IKEA frother. I have been enjoying tea lattes a lot lately, but the frother I had was just not living up to the task and I knew there had to be something better that didn’t cost a fortune.

Impressive… – I just purchased another of these to replace one just like it that is dying. It is one month shy of five years old. We use it every day with rechargeables, and have for all five of those years. My only suggestion would be to make the Low/High switch a little more precise, as it frequently is challenging to select Low.

Used to be like a tank, sturdy and reliable. Not so much recently. – I’ve had 3-4 of these now. The first one replaced an old aero latte, and I was super impressed how sturdy the Frothy was, and that it had two speeds, making it really really quick to get a thick foam, even with the nonfat milk I use. I got a lot more from each set of batteries because I could use it for months on the low speed & get the thick froth. As the batteries begin to weaken, you can switch to using just the high speed and get the same thick foam, AND get another month or two out of the batteries by having the second speed. I use it, on average, 3-4 times a day & it lasted about a year. My second Frothy experience was about the same as the first, which was entirely positive, and because I save so much money not buying lattes at Starbucks that paying for a new frother every year was not a deal breaker. My last two Frothys, bought 9 months apart, were faulty from the beginning. The contact with the switches for each speed is extremely tentative and wobbly, so you either get a delay before the frother starts up, or it slips off the contact and stops until you mess around resetting it. That said, they still had all the advantages of my originals, except for the sloppy switch contacts every use, it was still far faster at creating the foam, although they lasted only about 75% of the original time. So I’m now ordering my 5th Frothy in 6-7 years, and hoping that the Quality Assurance people who have been asleep at the switch have been retrained or replaced. This will probably be my last Frothy if my new one has the same problem as my last two. I took one star off for the sloppy switch contacts.
