Works great! – This thing really saved the day on our first travel outing since the beginning of the pandemic. We used it for tea and oatmeal in enamel camping mugs in place of dining out. It can boil water just barely, but that’s fine. Yes, there is smoke that comes out initially, but it’s mentioned in the instructions. The smoke is from the oil used to insulate the wiring in storage and shipping burning off. It only happens the first time. Temperature control is actually great once you get your bearings. A really great value!

Needs a lid to boil water. – I freaked out at first cause it would not boil water so I figured it defective, but then I put a lid on the pot and water boils. Coil ones boil faster without a lid, this one is less watts. I enjoy it now and find it to be neat in teaching me to use a lid cause it’s probably less wasteful. I thought I broke it cause directions say to heat it up without a pot or pan for some time before using it, which maybe is to set the temperature? I did not know if I messed it up as I used it right away but I doubt that messed it up but maybe. I left it unplugged figuring it would reset but a lid works fine.

Easy to use/clean – Great for smaller soaces

Not as usable as I’d hoped. – The reason I purchased this was to make items in my classroom on occasion with my students. We attempted to make a candy item in science…well I had no clue that this hot plates temperature ” cycles” , it heats up & then cools off….heats up & cools off….it took a very long time to get our syrup to a hard candy stage but the real issue was it tasted burned once it finally did ( and I stirred the entire time) get to temp. It was a pretty big disappointment to me. I’m not sure if it’ll ever come in handy for my classroom, even to boil water… or for much more than a warmed soup maybe.

Works Great – We bought this to make Hot Pot at the table. It takes A LONG TIME to heat up the pot, but maybe we are asking too much of a small burner. Once to temp it works perfect. So far we’ve used it twice. Sunday is Hot Pot day!

On/Off Control – This is an efficient little hot plate. I have only one complaint about its design. In order to turn it on or off, there is no discernible “click”. The button just rotates to the far left, which turns it off. This means it can be turned on very easily by just bumping it. I have done this several times with my desk chair, and not even know that I turned the unit on!

So far so good! – Works great! I cooked meat and fried taco shells. I read a review “just but it”! So I did and I don’t regret it. I’ve had a gas (fire) stove top and electric. It cooks just like an electric. Hope that’s helpful:)
