Not made in America! – Nice tortilla press but kind of misleading that it is NOT made in America but rather, China. I kept it because it is sold thru an American owned company…

Update_ Must finish with a rolling pin – Update: Good customer service. The seller offered to take the product back as a return. Unfortunately, I threw the packaging away. But, the seller stood behind his product. That’s a plus.

Fun to use – I read some reviews that said this broke while pressing tortillas. I don’t know how this is possible. This is built like a tank. My grandkids can pass this on to their grandkids.

Excellent for corn tortillas but flour tortillas come out too thick, better as a pita bread press – This 10” press is big and heavy and does a great job on corn tortillas with very minimal effort. I wasn’t as impressed with flour tortillas though, they just don’t get thin enough, they are more like pita bread and it works great for that. I did get the 10” so I could make thin flour tortillas, so I was a little disappointed. You can get them round with this press but you will still have to hand roll them to get the gossamer wing thin tortillas like at the taqueria. For corn tortillas, I found that I can get more uniform rounds and make them much faster using a small ice cream disher style scoop. They come out perfectly round and the flat side keeps them in place better, way more efficient then making a million little uneven balls. Your dough must be soft and pliable, many recipes I tried were way to dry and crumbly and required a lot more water, so be sure the dough is moist. This works with very minimal effort, you don’t have to put all your weight on the handle, just a gentle but firm press that’s it. This has a painted enamel like finish on cast iron so it won’t rust. It will chip away where the handle presses the outside of the plate, no big deal, just a little missing paint in a tiny spot. Also, expect quite a bit of play side to side where the handle bolts through but it doesn’t seem to matter and they all seem to do that. I do like this press, I’m still glad I got the 10” even though it doesn’t make thin flour tortillas because we do make a lot of flat bread and pitas and it’s great for that. This one is made in China, not Mexico.
